She loves making two-minute movies on photo booth and she (literally) judges a book by its cover… each season, designer Liz Turner turns to her love of images to find the inspiration for her Riddle Me This collections.
“So many things can provide inspiration!” says Liz, “ I appreciate both classic artworks alongside the controversy of graffiti, and I love to reference both history and pop culture.”
Liz completed her studies at Bay Of Plenty Polytechnic at the end of 2008. Within the same year, her label Riddle Me This began in the heart of Mount Maunganui, debuting its first collection for Summer 2009/10, with items selling out fast – and since then, the label has continued to expand, creating a strong following within its key stockists nationwide.
Riddle Me This embodies much that is feel-good about New Zealand fashion: putting its two cents into the state of the economy by being 100 percent home grown, right down to the fastenings.
Liz prides herself on creating quality and locally made pieces that are cleverly designed, cleverly crafted and, most importantly for her, garments that stay accessible, functional yet distinctly directional.
Liz says she looks forward to the future taking Riddle Me This further afield – with a menswear collection in the pipeline and the dream of having a flagship store.
